CanGEA launches grassroots CrowdFunding campaign

CanGEA launches grassroots CrowdFunding campaign

In likely one of the first crowdfunding campaigns by a renewable energy organization, the Canadian Geothermal Energy Association (CanGEA) has now started a campaign to raise money for the promotion and kickstarting interest in geothermal energy in Canada. In a campaign launched today, the Canadian Geothermal Energy Association is asking for support by the general public. Crowdfunding Takes On Hunger, Health And Human Rights

Crowdfunding Takes On Hunger, Health And Human Rights

Kickstarter meets Kiva meets TOMS: That’s the idea behind a soon-to-be launched social enterprise and crowdfunding web site by the name of Reciprocity & Co. The basic concept is this: Founded by Gainsville, Fla.-based Sam McPherson, the site promotes projects aimed at addressing major areas of need, like health or human rights abuses. Kickstarter: An iPhone Kitchen Thermometer, From the Inventors of Twine

Of all the ordinary things we can now link up to our smartphones and tablets–watches, scales, cars and even those dumb slabs that serve as our front doors–the humble kitchen thermometer doesn’t seem like an especially exciting candidate. Or being able to keep an eye on the temperature of a bird in the oven while running to the store to grab some forgotten supply. Or even just being…

The Kickstarter Of Solar Gets Ambitious With Military Housing Installation

Mosaic has done a pretty good job of introducing the concept of crowdfunding to solar. By giving anybody the power to invest in solar projects around the United States for as little as $25, Mosaic has become a darling of the cleantech community. So far, the Oakland-based startup has successfully funded $2 million towards 16 solar installations from normal people investing. But most have been pretty small: the biggest project to date has been a 657 kilowatt installation on a charter school in Colorado. But now, it looks like the…
